Eye on: Record Store Day 2014

The 7th annual Record Store Day will be on Saturday 19th of April, and as usual there will be a lot of exclusive new releases and reissues. Here are few titles of the records which we are looking forward to. For more info about the RSD and the full list of releases, check out the RSD page.

1. Spacemen 3 – Translucent Flashbacks (12″)
Info: Limited edition Record Store Day triple 12″ of Spacemen 3’s rare first three singles

2. Gil Scott-Heron – Nothing New (12″)
Info: During the 2008 I’m New Here sessions at New Yorks Looking Glass studios, Gil Scott-Heron recorded stripped-down new versions of some of his greatest songs.

3. Mazzy Star – I’m Less Here (7″)
Info: Two unreleased tracks from Mazzy Star on coke-bottle clear vinyl

4. Bardo Pond – Looking For Another Place (12″)
Info: Continuing their exploration and interpretation of existing tracks, this time the band turn their attention to ‘Ride Into The Sun’ by the Velvet Underground and ‘Here Come The Warm Jets’ by Brian Eno.

5. Oneohtrix Point Never – Commissions I (12″)
Info: A limited edition project developed from composer / producer Oneohtrix Point Never’s commissioned pieces for artworks, performance and film, Commissions features music out of context of the recorded medium from the past several years.

6. V.A. Pop Yeh Yeh – Psychedelic Rock from Singapore and Malaysia 1964-1970: Vol. 1
Info: First time on vinyl. Malaysian beat, pop, & psychedelic classics from 1964-1970. Features 1960s Malaysian music legends Adnan Othman, M. Osman, Zaleha Hamid, and many more…

7. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis West of Memphis – The Score (12″)
Info: The first release of the complete score. On White vinyl.

8. Fela Ransome Kuti & His Koola – Se E Tun De/Waka Waka (7″)
Info: The release’s A-Side “Se E Tun De” features a more jazz-oriented version of Fela’s signature afrobeat sound. The B-Side is the track “Waka Waka”.

9. V.A. Breaking Glass: Garage Rock From Toledo, Ohio

10. V. A. – Todo Muere Vol. 4 (12″)
Info: Sacred Bones is pleased to present the fourth volume of our annual Record Store Day vinyl compilation, Todo Muere. This year’s edition features eight tracks from a wide variety of roster artists, each one new or previously unreleased on any physical format. Like the three volumes that preceded it, Todo Muere Vol. 4’s track listing is as eclectic as the Sacred Bones roster itself, and for longtime followers and new fans alike, it serves as a snapshot of where the label is in 2014.
